Test your camera and sound

Run this test on the device you will use for the online assessment or the interview. Within a minute you know whether your camera, microphone and speakers do what they should. Nothing is recorded, sent or stored.

What happens with your video and audio

  • Video and audio stay inside your own browser. Nothing goes to hrmforce and nothing is stored.
  • Your browser asks permission for camera and microphone. That permission applies to this page only.
  • For the network check your browser briefly contacts a STUN server, exactly as Meet and Teams do. No video or audio goes there.
  • Press stop or leave the page and your camera light goes out again.

Your browser will ask permission for camera and microphone. Choose allow.

    Testing in Google Meet beforehand

Google has no separate test page. You can start a meeting yourself and check your video and audio in the waiting screen. You need a Google account for that.

    1. Go to meet.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
    2. Click New meeting and then Start an instant meeting.
    3. You land in the waiting screen, where you see yourself and whether your microphone reacts.
    4. Click the three dots and then Settings. Under Audio pick the right microphone and speaker, under Video the right camera.
    5. If all is well, leave the meeting again. You do not have to invite anyone.
    Open meet.google.com →

    Testing in Microsoft Teams beforehand

Teams has a test call. It sits in the desktop version and asks for a Microsoft account. The web version has no test call.

    1. Open the Teams app and sign in.
    2. Click the three dots next to your profile picture at the top right and choose Settings.
    3. Go to Devices and click Make a test call.
    4. You record a short message and hear it played back straight away. After that you see per item whether it works.
    5. If you hear or see nothing, pick another microphone, speaker or camera under Devices.

Joining in your browser? Then there is no test call. Open the meeting link a few minutes before the start and check video and audio in the waiting screen.
