Groundworker

Also known as: Excavation worker

Carries out earthworks, dewatering and drainage on site and lays foundations and cable routes according to drawings.

The groundworker operates at the start of the construction process, often alongside an excavator operator. The distinction from a general construction worker lies in knowledge of underground infrastructure and its risks. Selection often fails on insufficient knowledge of buried cables and pipes, which can cause serious incidents if not handled carefully.
