Carries out varied tasks in service, kitchen and dishwashing within a hospitality venue and steps in wherever staffing requires it.
The hospitality assistant is broadly deployable and switches between service, till and kitchen support depending on the shift. Unlike specialised roles such as cook or barista, no trade-specific training is expected, but broad deployability is. Selection often looks only at availability for varying shifts, while the ability to take initiative without a clear job description matters at least as much.
