Runs an entire site or distribution centre, leading team leaders, steering cost per unit and managing agreements with customers and service providers.
The site manager is fully accountable for the performance of one location and leads team leaders, planners and administration. The difference from an operations manager is the tie to a physical location with its own staff, building and equipment. In practice selection focuses too strongly on logistics routine, while labour market scarcity and working with staffing agencies more often determine whether the site meets its commitments.
