Assembles and maintains mechanical engineering installations and machine parts based on technical drawings and specifications.
The mechanical fitter builds and maintains mechanical systems such as piping, drives and structures. Unlike an electrical technician, the emphasis lies entirely on mechanical rather than electrical systems. Selection often tests hands-on mechanical skill, while the ability to correctly translate a technical drawing into a physical assembly is rarely tested separately.
