Lawyer
Also known as: Attorney · Solicitor · Barrister
Represents clients in court cases and negotiations, drafts submissions and opinions and, as a sworn lawyer, is personally accountable for the quality of legal representation.
The lawyer is registered with the Dutch bar and carries personal disciplinary responsibility for their conduct. Unlike an in-house counsel, they work per case for changing clients and set their own litigation strategy. Selection usually tests legal sharpness well, but the ability to formulate clearly under courtroom pressure and advise clients realistically on their chances often remains untested.
