Applies paint, stain and coating systems to wood, metal and facades, and prepares substrates for durable adhesion.
The painter works in both new build and maintenance, often finishing the chain of trades. Unlike a plasterer, the craft centres on product knowledge of coating systems and their fit per substrate. In practice selection goes wrong because candidates master spray technique but underrate substrate preparation, the main cause of early paint failure.
