Sheet Metal Worker

Cuts, bends and forms sheet material into parts and products according to drawing, using equipment such as a bending press or punch machine.

The sheet metal worker shapes sheet metal into a three-dimensional product according to a technical drawing. Unlike the welder, who joins, the emphasis here lies on cutting, bending and forming before any welding takes place. Selection often tests machine skill, while the ability to fold and assemble a product spatially correctly from a 2D drawing is rarely tested separately.
