DevOps Engineer

Automates build, deployment and monitoring of software and enables teams to deliver to production safely and repeatably.

The devops engineer builds the tooling and the pipeline that let development teams deploy themselves and keep production visible and controllable. Unlike the system administrator, this role programmes its infrastructure, and unlike the developer the product is the delivery chain rather than the application. Selection gets stuck on a list of tools, while practice asks for someone who takes ownership during a production disruption and at the same time brings teams along in ways of working they did not choose themselves.
