Software Developer

Builds, changes and maintains application code based on functional requirements and delivers working software that is tested and transferable.

The software developer works inside a development team and is accountable for code that reaches production and keeps running there. Unlike the architect, this role does not set the structure of the landscape, and unlike the tester it builds the solution itself. Selection usually fails on the language requirement: candidates are rejected for a missing programming language, while the role depends on problem analysis, reading other people's code and working in a team.
