Technical Application Manager
Also known as: Application Support Engineer · Technical Application Administrator
Keeps applications technically running by managing updates, interfaces and configuration and by resolving disruptions in the application chain.
The technical application manager keeps existing applications running, interfaces working and changes implemented without disruption. Unlike the developer, this role builds no new functionality, and unlike the functional manager it looks at the technology beneath the application rather than at its use. Selection stumbles on the assumption that this is a development role with less coding, while the core is incident analysis, discipline in documentation and controlling changes in a chain nobody fully oversees.
