Integration Specialist

Builds and maintains integrations between applications and systems, ensures data flows reliably between sources and resolves disruptions in the integrations.

The integration specialist connects separate applications into a working whole, accounting for formats, error handling and message ordering between systems. Unlike a backend developer who builds a single application, they work at the boundary between systems they do not all manage themselves. Selection often focuses on knowledge of specific integration platforms, while foreseeing what a change in a source system causes further down the chain is the hardest part of the work in practice.
