Privacy Officer

Oversees the processing of personal data, advises on privacy risks and monitors that processing activities meet legal requirements.
The privacy officer reviews and advises on the handling of personal data and keeps registers, impact assessments and processor agreements up to date. Unlike the security officer, the issue is not system security but lawfulness and purpose limitation of data use. Selection focuses on legal knowledge, while in practice the role fails on translation: privacy advice that only cites legal articles and offers no workable alternative gets bypassed rather than followed.
