Takes orders, serves food and drink and handles the bill, with attention to pace and the guest experience.
The waiter or waitress is the direct point of contact for guests at the table and largely determines their experience of the visit. Unlike a host or hostess, they handle the entire table service, from order to bill, rather than just the welcome. Selection in practice fails on candidates who come across as friendly in an interview but do not sustain the order and pace of service under peak pressure.
