IT Business Analyst
Also known as: Business Analyst · Requirements Analyst · Systems Analyst
Investigates business processes and user needs and captures them in requirements and models a development team can build from.
The IT business analyst sits between the user organisation and the development team and turns a vague wish into a testable requirement. Unlike the product owner, this role does not decide priority, and unlike the developer it does not build the solution. Selections go wrong by testing process models and notation, while the bottleneck is the conversation: probing with users who describe what they do today instead of the problem they solve, and surfacing conflicting interests before anything is built.
