Practice Nurse (General Practice)
Also known as: General Practice Nurse · Primary Care Nurse
Independently treats patients with chronic conditions within the general practice, following protocol and consulting the general practitioner on deviations.
The practice nurse independently treats chronic patients within established protocols, as opposed to purely supportive tasks. She works closely with the general practitioner but carries her own responsibility for treatment. The role is often confused in job postings with that of a practice support worker, while this function involves independent medical action and therefore requires a different clinical depth than guidance and education alone.
