Receptionist

Also known as: Front desk officer · Front office employee

Welcomes visitors and deliveries, answers the initial phone line and manages meeting room bookings at the front desk.

The receptionist is the first physical face of the organisation and works at a fixed location with many different visitors. The distinction from a telephonist lies in the physical, representative role at the desk rather than purely phone work. Selection often fails on candidates who come across as presentable but let several tasks slip when busy.
