Customer Service Desk Employee

Also known as: Helpdesk agent

Takes incident reports and requests, logs them in a ticketing system and resolves or escalates them to specialists.

The service desk employee works with a ticketing system and must quickly assess whether a report can be resolved directly or needs escalation. The distinction from a customer service representative lies in the technical or process nature of the reports. Selection often fails on candidates who are customer friendly but reason too little logically to resolve issues themselves before escalating.
