Shift Leader
Also known as: Shift Supervisor · Production Shift Leader
Leads a production shift, monitors staffing, output and safety on the line, and hands over the status to the next shift at changeover.
During the shift the shift leader is the most senior person on the floor and decides on downtime, changeovers and adding people. The distinction from a production group leader lies in working a shift roster with a full handover and in the authority to stop the line. Selection leans on technical experience with the line, while handover between shifts and consistently enforcing safety rules under time pressure are the real risk points.
