Supervisor
Also known as: Floor Supervisor · Shift Supervisor
Supervises a group of employees directly during the shift, allocates tasks, steps in where needed, and ensures agreed service levels and work instructions are met.
The supervisor works on the floor among the staff and is the first point of contact during peaks, absence or a complaint that the front line cannot resolve. Unlike a team leader, the role is tied to the shift rather than to personnel files and annual plans. In selection too much weight goes to seniority in the trade and too little to setting priorities under peak pressure and correcting colleagues on the spot.
