FF01 General management and executive lead managemententerpriseservices

Chief Executive Officer

Also known as: CEO · Group Chief Executive · President

Leads the enterprise as its most senior executive, sets strategy and portfolio, and accounts for performance to shareholders, supervisory bodies and the outside world.

The chief executive is the public face of the enterprise and leads a board of functional directors. Where a general manager in a smaller firm still works inside the operation, this role centres on capital allocation, portfolio choices and external representation. In selection, charisma often outweighs demonstrable behaviour around capital allocation, so the difference between a good storyteller and a good decision maker only becomes visible after appointment.
