Structural Steel Worker

Also known as: Metal Fabricator · Steel Erector

Builds and assembles steel structures based on technical drawings, both in the workshop and on site.

The structural steel worker turns a drawing into a physical steel structure, often working alongside welders and with on-site work. Unlike a welder, who focuses on joining, this role centres on assembling and erecting the whole structure. Selection often tests materials knowledge, while the ability to assemble a structure from a drawing independently without constant consultation is rarely tested.
