Field Service Technician

Also known as: Service Engineer · On-site Technician

Resolves faults at the customer's site, performs field maintenance on installations and reports the visit to both the customer and the own organisation.

The field service technician resolves faults at the customer's location, often alone and away from the own team. Unlike a maintenance mechanic who works at a fixed site, this role must also maintain the customer relationship during the visit. Selection often looks at technical knowledge, while in practice the role stands or falls with on-site customer communication and independently prioritising call-outs.
