Test Automation Engineer

Builds and maintains automated tests and integrates them into the pipeline so regression becomes visible on every change.

The test automation engineer programmes the checks that run automatically on every delivery and keeps that test set fast and reliable. Unlike the tester, this is a build role, and unlike the developer the product delivered is confidence about the code rather than the code itself. Selection emphasises tooling, while the bottleneck is prioritising test risk: a large suite that is slow and flaky gets ignored by teams and then provides no confidence at all.
