Cloud Engineer

Builds and manages infrastructure on cloud platforms, captures it as code and safeguards availability, security and cost control.
The cloud engineer sets up environments with a cloud provider and manages them largely through configuration and scripts rather than by hand. Unlike the system administrator, the work is therefore also software development, and unlike the cloud architect it makes the chosen setup actually work. Selection asks for platform certificates, while the differentiator is cost awareness and permission management: a technically correct environment can still create problems through uncontrolled spend or overly broad access.
