Network Administrator

Manages networks, connections and network security, monitors their performance and restores faults in the connectivity layer.
The network administrator is responsible for the layer all other systems lean on and works with segmentation, routing, wireless access and firewalls. Unlike the system administrator, attention goes to traffic between systems rather than to the systems themselves. Selection often runs on certifications, while practice asks for methodical measurement and elimination: with a complaint about slowness the first task is proving where the problem is not, which takes patience and a fixed method rather than a hunch.
