System Administrator

Manages servers, workplaces and access rights, implements updates and changes and resolves disruptions in the daily IT environment.
The system administrator keeps the existing environment running and is the first person called when something breaks. Unlike the cloud engineer, this role works by hand on concrete systems rather than on automated infrastructure, and unlike the service desk agent it has the rights to intervene. Selection focuses on product knowledge, while the bottleneck is working under pressure without skipping steps: during an outage, documentation and change control are dropped first and that is where the next outage begins.
