Database Administrator

Manages databases, monitors performance and availability, performs backups and recovery procedures and secures data against loss and unauthorised access.
The database administrator keeps the systems holding business critical data running, fast and recoverable, and intervenes on performance problems or looming data loss. Unlike a data engineer who builds data pipelines, the emphasis here is on managing and maintaining the continuity of the storage itself. Selection often looks at knowledge of a specific database platform, while actually testing a recovery procedure before it is needed makes the difference in practice between a reassuring plan and a working one.
