Manages an organisation's complete IT environment, from workplaces and applications to servers, and handles reports and changes personally.
The IT administrator is the all rounder who in smaller organisations covers the whole chain from workplace to server and also supports the user. Unlike the specialised system or network administrator, breadth defines this role and there is rarely a colleague to escalate to. Selection looks for someone who can do everything, while the real criterion is prioritising: with simultaneous reports and no backup, the administrator decides what waits, and someone unable to explain that to users quickly loses trust.
